2023

Safety Bespoke is a Canadian, Black-owned clothing manufacturer creating inclusive, functional workwear for women and gender-nonconforming individuals. The company needed a clean, modern digital presence that communicated their values, highlighted their partnership with EllisDon, and allowed new visitors to easily get in touch.

Summary

Working on Safety Bespoke was a rewarding experience, especially because it was done in collaboration with a family friend who also happens to be the company’s COO. From the very beginning, we went back and forth refining a monogram that truly felt right — one that could live across garments, tags, and digital spaces while carrying the brand’s sense of care, quality, and intention. It wasn’t just about designing something clean — it had to feel tailored, just like the garments themselves.

The website followed that same approach. I leaned into textures and tones that echoed the brand’s roots in craftsmanship — dark, tactile backgrounds, clean serif type, and a layout that kept things minimal but warm. With limited materials to start, we focused on storytelling through tone, typography, and feel. Every element, from the logo to the homepage scroll, was designed to reflect a sense of dignity and detail — built for a brand that’s proudly inclusive, practical, and premium.

Challenge

Typeface Selection: The biggest creative hurdle was finding a typeface that balanced professionalism with the refined tone of bespoke tailoring, while scaling well for both headline and body use.

Limited Brand Assets: The company was still in early development, so I worked with minimal material — crafting design systems and site assets from scratch with limited content.

Solutions

Custom Branding System: I created a tailored monogram and typographic identity that aligned with the client’s vision for a bespoke, high-quality feel. Every detail was carefully refined through client collaboration.

Mobile-First Experience: Built a streamlined homepage optimized for both desktop and mobile, ensuring clarity and ease of use for all users.

Collaborative Iteration: Regular communication with the COO enabled quick turnarounds on feedback and direction — ensuring the brand’s tone, layout, and message landed with clarity.
